Quick Tip: Temperature Play

Wake up their skin with temperature play! Hot or cold, temperature play is a great way to keep your lover (and his or her skin) at attention and begging for more...

The skin is a very sensitive organ, but its nerves tend to "fall asleep" after feeling the same sensation for awhile. This is why wearing clothes doesn't drive us nuts (well, most of us anyway). To keep nerves "awake" and interested you have to change things up, and using temperature is a great way to do it.

Ice cubes and hot wax are two classic ways of flipping the thermostat. Warming and cooling lubes are also great for adding invigorating tingles. And even toys can get in on the action; glass and metal toys retain heat and cold very well, making them perfect for temperature play. Just sit your toy in hot (not scalding) water or an ice bath for a few minutes and let the wake up call begin!

Taking glass toys from hot to cold or back should be done slowly to prevent cracking. If you need faster change-ups, use two toys!

Quick Tip: Find Your G-spot

+ Click for Full SizeThe G-spot is a small region located just inside and at the top of the vaginal opening. Many women report intense orgasms from g-spot stimulation and there are a number of toys designed specifically to reach it. Finding your g-spot is fairly easy and with a partner along to help it can be very fun...

First, make sure you're turned on before you go hunting. The g-spot enlarges when you're aroused and will be much easier to feel after a little forplay or better yet after an orgasm.

Start with your hands. Before getting into toys, it's best to get acquainted in the flesh. You can do this yourself, but it's a bit easier if you have a partner help. Using one or two fingers insert them palm side up just inside the vagina and bend them slightly up (see the illustration).

Think walnut? You're feeling for an area that's "crinkly" or "bumpy" (some compare it to the skin of a walnut). At any rate, it should feel very distinct from the smooth skin found elsewhere in the vaginal canal. Again, the more aroused you are when doing this the better, so if you have trouble, try feeling for it right after an orgasm.

Be firm. The g-spot is actually an area inside the vaginal wall not on it - so a firm touch works best. Think of massaging a muscle. Move your fingers up and back towards your palm (like you're motioning someone to you) while applying pressure. You'll know when you've got it!

Quick Tip: Hybrid Lubes

Maybe you can have it all! Hybrid lubricants combine the best of silicone and water-based formulas producing super-slick, long lasting products that are non-staining and easy to clean up.

Though still not quite as slick as pure silicone, hybrid products are a definite step up from water-based lubes. A few things to keep in mind: unlike pure silicone, hybrids are not water-proof, so for bath tub sex, silicone is still the way to go; and like silicone, hybrid products should not be used with toys made from silicone.
